Castor Oil Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • Ricinus Communis Seed Oil
  • Castor Bean Oil
  • Ricinus Oil

ChemTrade supplies castor oil to manufacturers and formulators across Malaysia in 200 kg drums and 25 kg pails. This is industrial supply of Indian origin material, not retail bottles.

We hold the plain refined oil and the hydrogenated grade, a hard white wax used to structure greases, sticks and candles. The ethoxylated derivatives, including the PEG-40 hydrogenated grade, are stocked separately and listed on their own pages.

The hydroxyl value is what most buyers are here for: it is what lets castor oil react straight into a polyurethane polyol or an alkyd backbone where another vegetable oil will not. Cosmetic formulators will know it by its INCI name, Ricinus Communis Seed Oil.

No licence or permit is needed to buy castor oil, so an enquiry needs only the grade, the quantity and where it is going. If you are still choosing between the grades, tell us what the oil has to do in the formulation.

Castor Oil grades and forms

We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.

GradeFormAssayTypical usePacking
Castor oilpale yellow liquidThe plain pressed and refined oil, and the default for most industrial buying. It goes into lubricant and grease bases, alkyd and coating resins, polyurethane polyols, textile and leather processing, and as an emollient in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulation.200 kg drum
Hydrogenated castor oilhard white waxy solidThe oil with its double bonds saturated, which turns it into a high melting wax. Used as a structurant and thickener in greases, candles, crayons, cosmetic sticks and coatings, where the plain liquid oil would not hold a body. Ask for it by name in your enquiry, because it handles nothing like the liquid.25 kg bag
Castor oil ethoxylate 36 EOyellow viscous liquidWater soluble, and used where an emulsifier or solubiliser is wanted rather than an oil. This is a separate product with its own page and its own specification, listed here so an enquiry arriving on the wrong page still reaches the right material.200 kg drum
Castor oil ethoxylate 40 to 45 EOpale yellow liquidThe higher ethoxylates, including the hydrogenated PEG-40 grade that cosmetic formulators find by its INCI name. Also separate products with their own pages. Tell us the mole count your formulation calls for and we will point you at the right one.200 kg drum

How to buy castor oil from ChemTrade

Ordering

Tell us which grade you want, the quantity and your delivery location, and we will quote within two business days. If you are formulating rather than reordering a known material, say what the oil has to do in the recipe and we will tell you whether the plain oil, the hydrogenated grade or one of the ethoxylates is what you actually need.

Delivery

Across Peninsular Malaysia, with East Malaysia by sea freight. We can arrange transport or release to your own forwarder, whichever suits your receiving arrangements. Delivery timing is confirmed with your quote once stock and haulage are checked.

Pricing

Castor oil prices move more than most of what we carry, so we do not publish a figure that would soon be out of date. Send the grade and quantity and we will quote a current price with a stated validity period.

Castor Oil applications

Safety and handling

Store sealed in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, and keep drums closed. Castor oil takes up moisture and will slowly oxidise on prolonged air exposure, which lifts the acid value and the colour, so first opened drums should be used before fresh stock. Handle with gloves and eye protection and wash with soap and water after skin contact. Spills are a slip hazard and the oil will soften some plastics and rubbers, so check gasket and hose compatibility before it goes into a line.

Common questions about castor oil

Do you sell castor oil in small bottles for personal use?

No. The smallest unit we sell is a 25 kg pail and most orders go out as 200 kg drums, so if you want a 100 ml or 250 ml bottle for hair, skin or a castor oil pack, a pharmacy or an online marketplace is the right place. We supply manufacturers and formulators buying by the drum or the tonne.

Which grade do I need, plain, hydrogenated or an ethoxylate?

Plain refined castor oil is what you want for a lubricant base, an alkyd or urethane resin, a polyurethane polyol or an emollient. Hydrogenated castor oil is a hard wax and is used to structure a grease, a stick or a candle. The ethoxylates are water soluble emulsifiers and solubilisers, and they sit on their own pages. Tell us what the material has to do and we will say which one it is.

What specification do you supply against, and can you meet BP or USP?

Commercial refined castor oil runs at an acid value of 2.0 or under, iodine value 82 to 90, saponification value 176 to 187 and hydroxyl value 160 or above, and the figures for your consignment come on its certificate of analysis. Pharmacopoeial grade is a separate specification with its own documentation, so if your process needs it, say so in the enquiry and we will source and document against it rather than send commercial material.

What pack sizes do you supply and what does a drum weigh?

200 kg drums are the standard, with 25 kg pails available and the hydrogenated grade in 25 kg bags. Drum weights vary a little between suppliers, so the exact net weight is on the quotation. We work with several sources, so ask if you need packing that is not standard.

Where does your castor oil come from?

India, which is where most of the world crop is grown and where the refining capacity sits, so almost all commercial castor oil traces back there whoever sells it. If your tender or your customer needs the origin stated on the paperwork, say so when you enquire and we will quote against it.

Can you send a safety data sheet and certificate of analysis?

Yes, both go out with the quotation rather than being published here, because they are specific to the grade and batch you would actually receive. Ask for them at the enquiry stage if your approval process needs them before a purchase order is raised.

How is castor oil priced?

On enquiry, with a stated validity period. It moves more than most of what we carry, so a figure published here would be out of date before you read it. Send the grade, quantity and delivery location for a current quote.
