Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) Supplier in Malaysia
- Also known as
- HCl
- Muriatic Acid
ChemTrade supplies hydrochloric acid to industrial buyers across Malaysia. Known in the trade as muriatic acid and ordered as HCl, it is the working acid in steel pickling, resin regeneration, descaling and pH correction. We hold Malaysian and Indian material in stock.
The standard industrial strength is 33%, in 25 kg pails, 30 kg jars and drums of roughly 200 to 280 kg. Dilute grades at 10%, 15% and 16% are stocked for plants that would otherwise cut concentrated acid on site. Laboratory packs of 1 and 2.5 litres cover titration and small dosing work.
The chemistry is the same at every strength, so the choice is a freight and handling one. Tell us the application and the volume and we will say which strength lands cheapest.
Hydrochloric acid is a scheduled poison in Malaysia, so supply is subject to you holding the appropriate licence. Tell us the intended use and we will confirm what documentation is needed before the first delivery.

HCl grades and forms
We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.
| Grade | Form | Assay | Typical use | Packing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hydrochloric acid 33% | clear colourless liquid | 32 to 33% | The standard industrial strength and what most plants order. Pickling steel to strip rust and mill scale, regenerating cation exchange resin, and neutralising alkaline effluent. | 25 kg pail, 30 kg jar, 200 to 280 kg drum |
| Hydrochloric acid 15 to 16% | clear colourless liquid | 15 to 16% | Roughly half strength, for plants that would otherwise cut concentrated acid on site. Less fume at the dosing point, against the cost of freighting more water. | 25 kg pail, 200 to 215 kg drum |
| Hydrochloric acid 10% | clear colourless liquid | 10% | Light duty descaling, tile and masonry cleaning, and pH trimming where concentrated acid would overshoot. | 25 kg pail, 200 kg drum |
| Hydrochloric acid, laboratory packs | clear colourless liquid | 32 to 33% | Concentrated acid in small bottles for titration, sample digestion and low volume dosing, where a 25 kg pail is more than the work needs. | 1 litre and 2.5 litre bottle |

Store cool and well ventilated in the closed original container, away from alkalis, oxidisers and bare metal. Contact with hypochlorite releases chlorine gas and contact with most metals releases hydrogen, so keep it separated from bleach and from caustic in the same store. When diluting, always add acid to water and never the reverse. Handle with chemical goggles, a face shield, acid resistant gloves and an apron, and pump through PVC, HDPE or lined equipment rather than mild steel.
Common questions about HCl
Do I need a licence to buy hydrochloric acid in Malaysia?
Yes. Hydrochloric acid is a scheduled poison in Malaysia, so supply is subject to you holding the appropriate licence or permit for your use, and to a signed purchase order stating the intended use. Tell us the application and we will confirm what documentation to have ready before the first delivery.
Is muriatic acid the same as hydrochloric acid?
Same material. Muriatic acid is the older trade name, still used in pool water, masonry and concrete work, while industry and laboratories say hydrochloric acid or HCl. What we supply is the industrial product from 25 kg pails upward, not retail bottles.
Which strength should I order, 33% or a dilute grade?
33% is the standard and is what you want if you dose through a metering pump or dilute in a batch tank. The 10% to 16% grades save you handling concentrated acid at the point of use, but you pay freight on the water, so the delivered cost per tonne of HCl is usually higher. Tell us the application and volume and we will price both.
What packing is available?
1 litre and 2.5 litre bottles for laboratory use, 25 kg pails, 30 kg jars, and drums from roughly 200 to 280 kg. We work with more than one source, so if you need a packing that is not listed, ask.
Can you match a tighter specification than standard technical grade?
Send us the specification. Where a process limits iron, sulphate, free chlorine or heavy metals, or needs food grade or reagent grade documentation, we source against the specification and supply the batch certificate of analysis rather than send you the nearest thing on the shelf.
How is hydrochloric acid priced?
On enquiry, at a current price with a stated validity period. Send the strength, packing, quantity and delivery point and we will come back with a figure and the paperwork you will need.
