Paraffin Wax Supplier in Malaysia: Fully and Semi Refined
- Also known as
- Petroleum Wax
- Paraffin
- Hard Paraffin
- Candle Wax
ChemTrade supplies paraffin wax to industrial buyers across Malaysia. Fully refined and semi refined grades are commonly supplied in 25 kg and 50 kg bags. It is also sold as petroleum wax or hard paraffin.
Melting point is how this material is specified, so it is the first thing to tell us. Our semi refined grade is the 58/60 cut, and other cuts across the 47 to 64 °C range are sourced to order. Fully refined carries less oil, which is what matters where colour, odour or contact with skin or food is involved.
Malaysian buyers take it for candle manufacture, rubber and tyre compounding, board and paper coating, and batik resist wax. It also goes into investment casting patterns, petroleum jelly and ointment bases.
Send the grade, melting point and quantity and we will quote. If you are matching an existing supply, send the specification you buy against and we will source to it rather than send you the nearest cut.

Paraffin Wax grades and forms
We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.
| Grade | Form | Assay | Typical use | Packing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fully refined paraffin wax | white solid | melt point 47 to 64 °C | The low oil grade, and the one to specify where colour, odour or contact with skin or food matters. Used in petroleum jelly and ointment bases, cosmetic sticks, coated board and food wrap. | 25 kg or 50 kg bag |
| Semi refined paraffin wax | white solid | melt point 58 to 60 °C | The volume grade, carrying some residual oil at a lower price than fully refined. This is the 58/60 cut, and it covers candle manufacture, rubber compounding and general coating work. | 25 kg or 50 kg bag |
| Slack wax | soft off white solid | — | Unrefined wax with the highest oil content of the three, so it is the cheapest per tonne where colour and odour do not matter. Used in board sizing, fire logs, rubber processing and as feedstock for further refining. | 50 kg bag |
| Microcrystalline wax | white to off white solid | — | A finer crystal structure than paraffin, so it is harder, tougher and melts higher. Blended into paraffin to raise the softening point, and used in batik wax blends, laminating and tyre compounding. | 25 kg bag |

Paraffin Wax applications
Safety and handling
Store cool, dry and out of direct sun, away from heat and from strong oxidising agents. Prolonged heat changes the colour and the odour, so stock rotation matters on refined grades. Molten wax causes serious burns and its vapour is flammable, so melt under thermostatic control and keep ignition sources away from open tanks.
Common questions about paraffin wax
Which melting point should I order?
Melting point is how this material is specified, so it is the first thing to tell us. Our semi refined grade is the 58/60 cut, which suits most candle and coating work, and other cuts across the 47 to 64 °C range are sourced to order. If you are matching an existing supply, send the specification you buy against and we will source to it rather than send you the nearest cut.
What is the difference between fully refined, semi refined and slack wax?
Oil content, and therefore colour, odour and price. Fully refined carries the least oil and is the grade to use where the wax touches skin or food or where a white product is needed. Semi refined carries more oil at a lower price and covers most volume work, and slack wax carries the most, which makes it the cheapest per tonne wherever colour and odour do not matter.
Can you supply wax for food contact or cosmetic use?
Fully refined is the grade used for those applications. Say when you enquire that the wax is for food contact or for a cosmetic formulation and we will source against that requirement and confirm what documentation comes with it, rather than send a technical grade that would fail your incoming check.
What pack sizes do you supply, and what is the smallest quantity?
Bags of 25 kg and 50 kg are the standard, and we work with several producers so other packing can usually be arranged. We sell by the bag and by the pallet for manufacturing use, not in retail portions, so if you need a kilogram for a hobby project a craft supplier will serve you better than we can.
Can you send a safety data sheet and a certificate of analysis?
Yes. Ask for them with your enquiry and they come with the quotation, and the certificate of analysis is issued against the batch you are actually being offered rather than a generic sheet. Tell us if your incoming inspection tests a parameter we have not listed and we will confirm it before you commit.
How is paraffin wax priced?
Prices move from time to time, so we do not publish a figure that would soon be out of date. Send the grade, melting point and quantity and we will quote a current price with a stated validity period.
