Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • PEG
  • Carbowax
  • Macrogol

ChemTrade supplies polyethylene glycol to pharmaceutical, personal care and industrial manufacturers across Malaysia. It is ordered as PEG and by grade number, from PEG 200 through PEG 400 and PEG 600 up to PEG 4000 and PEG 8000. Taiwanese and Malaysian origin are both available.

Molecular weight is what you choose on. PEG 200 to PEG 600 are clear viscous liquids supplied in drums, while PEG 2000 and above are white flakes or powder in 20 kg and 25 kg bags. PEG 1000 sits between the two and ships in drums.

The chemistry does not change across the range, so the grade number sets viscosity, melting behaviour and how the material handles on your line. Tell us the application and the grade you use now and we will confirm availability.

Polyethylene glycol takes up moisture from the air, so it needs sealed storage. If your formulation has to meet a pharmacopoeial or food standard, specify that with the enquiry and we will quote against it.

Polyethylene Glycol grades and forms

We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.

GradeFormAssayTypical usePacking
PEG 200 and PEG 300clear viscous liquid200 or 300 nominal MWThe thinnest grades and the most hygroscopic. Used as a solvent and coupling agent, a humectant, and a plasticiser where a low viscosity carrier is wanted. Pours and pumps easily at ambient temperature.10 kg or 230 kg drum
PEG 400clear viscous liquid400 nominal MWThe most widely ordered grade and the usual starting point for pharmaceutical and personal care formulation, as an ointment base, a solubiliser and an excipient. Also the default liquid grade for industrial lubricant and mould release work.25 kg or 220 to 230 kg drum
PEG 600 and PEG 1000viscous liquid to soft waxy solid600 or 1000 nominal MWHeavier than PEG 400 and less mobile. PEG 600 is still a liquid at Malaysian ambient temperature while PEG 1000 is soft and waxy, so both travel in drums rather than bags. Chosen where a formulation needs more body than PEG 400 gives.200 to 230 kg drum
PEG 2000 and PEG 3350white flakes or powder2000 or 3350 nominal MWSolid at ambient temperature and charged by hand or hopper rather than pumped. Used as a binder and a solid carrier, in suppository and tablet work, and where the material has to be melted into a batch.25 kg bag
PEG 4000 and PEG 8000white flakes or powder4000 or 8000 nominal MWThe high molecular weight solids, harder and higher melting than PEG 2000. PEG 4000 is a standard activator and dispersing aid in rubber compounding and latex dipping. PEG 8000 goes into ceramic and powder binding and protein precipitation work.20 or 25 kg bag

How to buy polyethylene glycol from ChemTrade

Ordering

Send the grade number and quantity with your delivery location and we will quote within two business days. If you know the application but not the grade, tell us what the material goes into and what you use now, and we will say which grade matches.

Delivery

Across Peninsular Malaysia, with East Malaysia by sea freight. Bags travel as general cargo while a full drum needs a forklift or a tail lift at your end, so tell us what you have. We can arrange transport or release to your own forwarder. Delivery timing is confirmed with your quote once stock and haulage are checked.

Pricing

Prices move with the ethylene oxide chain, so we quote a current figure with a stated validity period rather than publish one that would soon be out of date. Grade changes the price as much as quantity does, so send the grade number with your enquiry.

Polyethylene Glycol applications

Safety and handling

Store sealed in a cool dry place. Polyethylene glycol takes up moisture from the air, which thins the liquid grades and cakes the solid ones, so keep drums and bags closed and do not leave part used packing open on the floor. The solid grades soften well below boiling, so keep them off hot surfaces and out of direct sun. Handle with gloves and eye protection.

Common questions about polyethylene glycol

Which molecular weight grade do I need?

The grade number is the nominal average molecular weight, and it sets viscosity, melting behaviour and how the material handles rather than changing the chemistry. PEG 400 is the usual starting point for liquid formulation and PEG 4000 for solid work. If you are matching an existing formulation, send us the grade you use now and we will quote the same.

What is the difference between the liquid and the solid grades?

PEG 200 to PEG 600 are clear viscous liquids that pump and pour at ambient temperature and come in drums. PEG 2000 and above are white flakes or powder that get charged by hand or hopper and come in bags. PEG 1000 sits in between, soft and waxy at Malaysian ambient temperature, and travels in drums. Which side you want usually follows the equipment you already have.

Can you supply a grade that is not listed, such as PEG 6000?

Yes. We work with several producers and the grades shown are what we hold or move regularly, not the limit of what we can bring in. Tell us the grade number and the quantity and we will confirm what is available and the lead time before you commit.

What packing is available?

Liquid grades in drums from around 200 kg to 230 kg, with 10 kg and 25 kg drums for smaller quantities and trials. Solid grades in 20 kg and 25 kg bags. If you need a size that is not in that list it can usually be arranged, so ask rather than assume.

Do you supply pharmaceutical or food grade with documentation?

Tell us the standard your formulation has to meet and we will quote against it rather than send the nearest thing. Specify the requirement with the enquiry, because the grade and the paperwork are quoted together and changing the specification afterwards changes the price.

Where is your polyethylene glycol sourced from?

Taiwanese and Malaysian origin are both available depending on the grade. If your own specification or your customer restricts country of origin, say so with the enquiry and we will quote only what qualifies.

How is it priced?

Prices move with the ethylene oxide chain, so we quote a current figure with a stated validity period rather than publish one that goes out of date. Grade affects the price as much as quantity does, so send the grade number and the volume and we will come back with a figure.
