Sodium Cyanide Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • NaCN
  • Cyanide of Sodium
  • Sodium Salt of Hydrogen Cyanide

ChemTrade supplies sodium cyanide to licensed industrial buyers in Malaysia, principally gold and silver mines and metal finishing plants. It is sourced against a confirmed order rather than held on a shelf, because it is a controlled poison and every consignment is documented end to end.

The solid is the usual product at 98% NaCN minimum, as compacted briquettes for leach circuits and as granular material for smaller batch make up. A pre-dissolved solution is available where a plant has bulk receiving and a dedicated unloading point.

Leaching gold and silver from ore is the dominant application and accounts for most of the world's cyanide consumption. The rest goes to cyanide electroplating and metal heat treatment baths, and to chemical synthesis, where the cyanide ion builds nitriles and related intermediates.

Sodium cyanide is a scheduled poison in Malaysia, so supply is subject to you holding the appropriate licence or permit for your intended use. We verify that documentation before the first delivery, and we will tell you what is needed if you are not certain. We do not supply a buyer who cannot produce it.

Sodium Cyanide grades and forms

We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.

How to buy sodium cyanide from ChemTrade

Ordering

Send the form, quantity and delivery point together with your licence or permit details, and we will quote within two business days. If you are not certain which form suits your circuit, or what documentation applies to your use, tell us the process and we will work it out with you first.

Delivery

To site across Peninsular Malaysia, and to Sabah and Sarawak by sea freight. Sodium cyanide travels as class 6.1 dangerous goods, so it moves on a licensed dangerous goods carrier we arrange, or is released to your own approved forwarder. Timing is confirmed with your quote once the licence check, sourcing and haulage are settled.

Pricing

Prices move, so we quote a current figure with a stated validity period rather than publish one that would soon be out of date. Send the form, quantity and delivery point and we will come back to you.

Safety and handling

Classification
fatal if swallowed, in contact with skin or if inhaled, contact with acids liberates very toxic gas, contact with water liberates toxic gas, very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects
UN number
1689
Hazard class
6.1

Keep dry and locked, in the original container, in a cool well ventilated store away from food and feed. Contact with acids liberates hydrogen cyanide gas, so acids and acid salts are stored separately and never in the same bund. Moisture and carbon dioxide release it slowly as well, which is why containers stay closed and carbon dioxide extinguishers are kept out of the store. Also keep it away from oxidising agents and from aluminium, copper, zinc, magnesium and tin. Handle with gloves, eye and face protection and a suitable respirator, keep dust down, and have a safety shower, eyewash and a cyanide emergency kit within reach of the work area.

Common questions about sodium cyanide

Do I need a licence to buy sodium cyanide in Malaysia?

Yes. Sodium cyanide is a scheduled poison, so supply is subject to you holding the appropriate licence or permit for your intended use, and we verify that documentation before the first delivery. Tell us what the material is for and we will confirm what you need in place. We do not supply a buyer who cannot produce it.

Which form should I order, briquette, granular or solution?

Briquettes are the default for a leach circuit: little dust when charged, and they dissolve readily in the make up tank. Granular suits smaller batches and plating or heat treatment baths where the charge is weighed out by hand. Solution removes solids handling but needs bulk receiving and containment, so it only pays above a certain throughput.

What assay and impurity levels do you supply?

Commercial solid runs at 98% NaCN minimum, the balance being mostly sodium hydroxide up to around 1.1% and sodium carbonate up to around 1%. Each consignment comes with a certificate of analysis against that specification. If your circuit or bath works to a tighter limit, send us the specification and we will source against it rather than send the nearest thing.

How does it ship, and what documentation comes with it?

Solid ships as UN 1689, sodium cyanide solid, class 6.1, packing group I, and solution as UN 3414. That means a licensed dangerous goods carrier and a driver with the right endorsement, not general haulage. Each delivery travels with the safety data sheet, the certificate of analysis and the transport paperwork, and your licence details are recorded against the order.

Can you deliver to a mine site in East Malaysia?

Yes, by sea freight to Sabah or Sarawak and then by road to site on a carrier approved for class 6.1. Tell us the receiving point and how the material will be offloaded and stored, because that decides which form and packing actually work for you.

How is it priced?

We quote per order rather than publish a figure, because the price tracks feedstock and freight and any number on this page would be stale within weeks. Quotations carry a stated validity period. Send the form, quantity and delivery point to get one.
