Adipic Acid Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • Hexanedioic Acid
  • 1,6-Hexanedioic Acid
  • Adipinic Acid
  • E355

Adipic acid supplier for polymer, resin, food and cleaning-formulation buyers in Malaysia. Also known as hexanedioic acid, 1,6-hexanedioic acid and E355 (CAS 124-04-9, C6H10O4), it is a white crystalline dicarboxylic acid supplied as powder, crystals or granules.

Commercial choice runs from nylon grade for polyamide 6,6 polymerisation to technical grade for polyester polyols, adipate esters and coating resins, and food grade for acidulant work. Particle form affects dosing and dust control, so state whether powder, crystals or granules suit the process.

Adipic acid is the diacid itself, not an adipate ester. Dioctyl adipate and di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate are plasticisers made from it and are ordered as separate products. It is also a different chemical from fumaric, malic and succinic acid, which serve overlapping acidulant duties with different properties.

irritant

Store sealed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from strong bases and oxidising agents. Dust may irritate the eyes and respiratory tract, so control dust, use gloves and eye protection, and follow the safety information for the grade quoted.

Common questions about adipic acid

Is adipic acid the same as hexanedioic acid?

Yes. Hexanedioic acid is the systematic name for adipic acid, and 1,6-hexanedioic acid and adipinic acid refer to the same substance. E355 is the food additive number used when the material is supplied for food use.

Is adipic acid the same as dioctyl adipate?

No. Dioctyl adipate and di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate are ester plasticisers manufactured from adipic acid, with their own specifications and handling. If a plasticiser is needed, request the adipate ester by name rather than the acid.

What is the difference between adipic acid and fumaric or malic acid?

They are different chemicals even though all three appear as food acids. Adipic acid is the saturated C6 dicarboxylic acid used in nylon, polyurethane and acidulant work, while fumaric and malic acid differ in structure, solubility and taste profile. State which acid the formulation requires by name.

Which adipic acid grade should I request?

Nylon grade suits polyamide 6,6 polymerisation where colour and iron limits matter. Technical grade covers polyester polyols, adipate esters, resins and industrial acidification. Food grade E355 is selected for beverage powders, desserts and dry mixes.

How soluble is adipic acid in water?

It is only sparingly soluble in cold water and dissolves far more readily as temperature rises, which is why dry blends often use it where a hygroscopic acid would cake. State the dosing temperature and process so the form and particle size can be matched.

What details are needed for an adipic acid price enquiry?

Provide the grade, form, application, target specification, quantity and delivery location. Mention preferred packing, documentation needs and timing so the quotation covers the complete requirement.
