Crospovidone Supplier in Malaysia
- Also known as
- Crosslinked Polyvinylpyrrolidone
- Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone
- PVPP
- Crosslinked Povidone
Crospovidone supplier for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and beverage-processing buyers in Malaysia. Sold as crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyvinylpolypyrrolidone or PVPP (CAS 25249-54-1), it is a white to off-white free-flowing powder that is insoluble in water but swells rapidly.
Its function in solid dosage forms is disintegration. Water is drawn into the compact by capillary wicking and the particles swell without forming a gel barrier, which is why low inclusion levels break a tablet apart quickly. Type A and Type B share that chemistry and differ in particle-size distribution.
Beverage work uses the same polymer under the PVPP name to strip polyphenols and tannins from beer, wine and juice, with the powder filtered out afterwards. Crospovidone is a distinct excipient from soluble povidone and from copovidone, which are binders and are ordered separately.
Send the grade type, dosage form or process, target specification, quantity and delivery location with your enquiry. Availability, packing and documentation are confirmed with the quotation. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

Crospovidone grades and forms
We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.
| Grade | Form | Assay | Typical use | Packing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crospovidone Type A | white to off-white free-flowing powder, coarser particle size | — | Direct-compression and dry-granulation tablet blends where a coarser particle size helps flow and blend uniformity while still giving rapid wicking and swelling on contact with water. | Packing is settled with the quotation. |
| Crospovidone Type B | white to off-white free-flowing powder, finer particle size | — | Wet-granulated tablets, orally disintegrating dosage forms and small tablets where a finer disintegrant distributes more evenly through a low-dose blend. | Packing is settled with the quotation. |
| Beverage clarification grade PVPP | white to off-white insoluble powder | — | Polyphenol and tannin removal in brewing, wine and juice processing, dosed into the liquid and then filtered out, in single-use or regenerable programmes. | Packing is settled with the quotation. |

Crospovidone applications
Safety and handling
Store in tightly closed containers in a dry place away from moisture and heat, since the powder is hygroscopic and picks up water from humid air. Control dust during transfer and weighing, and use ordinary powder-handling protection. Work to the safety information issued with the grade being quoted.
Common questions about crospovidone
Is crospovidone the same as povidone?
No. Povidone is the soluble linear polymer used as a binder and film former, while crospovidone is crosslinked and insoluble and works as a disintegrant. Order povidone by name if a soluble binder is what the formula needs, because the two are not interchangeable.
What is the difference between crospovidone and copovidone?
Copovidone is a soluble vinylpyrrolidone and vinyl acetate copolymer used mainly as a binder, so it dissolves into the granulation fluid. Crospovidone stays insoluble and pulls water into the tablet to break it apart. Ask for copovidone by name if the requirement is a binder.
Should I request Type A or Type B?
The two types share the same chemistry and differ in particle-size distribution. Type A is coarser and often suits direct compression and dry granulation, while Type B is finer and distributes more evenly in wet-granulated and low-dose blends. Send the dosage form and the blend details so the type can be matched.
How is crospovidone different from a disintegrant that forms a gel?
It works by capillary wicking and rapid swelling without building a viscous gel layer, so water keeps moving into the compact instead of being held at the surface. That behaviour is why it is described as a superdisintegrant and why low inclusion levels are usually enough.
Is PVPP for beverage clarification the same material?
Yes, the same crosslinked polymer, supplied in grades intended for polyphenol and tannin removal in brewing, wine and juice work. Those grades are chosen for filtration behaviour and, in some programmes, regeneration rather than for tablet performance.
What details are needed for a crospovidone price enquiry?
Provide the grade type, the dosage form or process, target specification, quantity and delivery location. Mention documentation needs, preferred packing and timing so the quotation covers the whole requirement rather than just the material.
