Phosphoric Acid (Orthophosphoric Acid) Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • Orthophosphoric Acid
  • H3PO4
  • E338

ChemTrade supplies phosphoric acid to food manufacturers and industrial buyers across Malaysia. It is also ordered as orthophosphoric acid, by the formula H3PO4, and in food and beverage work by its additive number E338. Chinese, Vietnamese and Malaysian origin are all available.

The standard commercial strength is 85%, stocked in both food grade and technical grade. A dilute 20% technical grade is also held for plants that would rather not handle concentrated acid on site. Packing runs from 35 kg pails through 330 kg drums to 1,650 kg IBCs.

Food grade and technical grade are the same acid at the same strength. What differs is the impurity specification and the documentation, so if your process carries a limit on iron, chloride or arsenic, send the specification and we will source against it.

Phosphoric acid is corrosive and moves as UN 1805, class 8, so a delivery needs somewhere it can be received and stored off bare metal and away from alkalis. Send the grade, strength and quantity with your delivery location and we will quote.

Phosphoric Acid grades and forms

We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.

Food grade phosphoric acidclear colourless viscous liquid85%The acidulant E338 in carbonated soft drinks, and the acid regulator in jams, jellies and processed cheese. Also the grade to specify for acid cleaning and descaling on food and beverage production lines.35 kg or 40 kg pail, 330 kg drum
Technical grade phosphoric acidclear colourless to pale liquid85%Sold as technical or industrial grade. Metal treatment and phosphating before painting, rust conversion, and the manufacture of phosphate salts and detergent builders.35 kg pail, 330 kg drum or 1,650 kg IBC

How to buy phosphoric acid from ChemTrade

Ordering

Send the grade, strength and quantity with your delivery location and we will quote within two business days. If you are not sure whether your process needs food grade, tell us what the acid goes into and we will say.

Delivery

Across Peninsular Malaysia, with East Malaysia by sea freight. Pails and drums travel as general cargo, while an IBC needs a forklift or a tail lift at your end, so tell us what you have. We can arrange transport or release to your own forwarder. Delivery timing is confirmed with your quote once stock and haulage are checked.

Pricing

Prices move, so we quote a current price with a stated validity period rather than publish one that would soon be out of date. Send the grade, strength and quantity and we will come back with a figure.

Store in a cool, well-ventilated area in the original packing, away from alkalis and cyanides. Phosphoric acid attacks mild steel, aluminium, zinc and galvanised surfaces and releases hydrogen doing it, so keep it in plastic or lined containment and off bare metal. When diluting, add the acid to the water and never the water to the acid, and handle it with chemical goggles, a face shield, gloves and an apron.

Common questions about phosphoric acid

Is food grade the same acid as technical grade?

It is the same acid at the same 85% strength. What differs is the impurity specification and the documentation that comes with it, so food grade costs more and arrives with the paperwork a food or beverage audit will ask for. If your process has a limit on iron, chloride or arsenic, send us the specification and we will source against it rather than send the nearest thing.

What strengths do you supply?

85% is the standard commercial strength and what most buyers order, in both food and technical grade. We also hold a dilute 20% technical grade for plants that would rather not handle concentrated acid. Other strengths can be sourced or made up to your figure, so tell us what your process doses at.

Which grade should I use for rust removal and phosphating?

Technical grade. For rust conversion and phosphating before painting the impurity specification that makes food grade more expensive buys you nothing, so the 85% technical grade is the right call, diluted to your bath concentration. If you would rather not dilute on site, the 20% grade is already there.

What packing is available?

Pails from 25 kg to 40 kg, drums around 300 kg to 340 kg, and IBCs. One litre bottles are available for laboratory and pilot quantities. We buy from several producers, so if you need a size that is not in that list it can usually be arranged.

Where is your phosphoric acid sourced from?

Chinese, Vietnamese and Malaysian origin are all available. If your customer or your own specification restricts country of origin, say so with the enquiry and we will quote only what qualifies.

How is it priced?

Prices move, so we quote a current figure with a stated validity period rather than publish one that goes out of date. Send us the grade, strength and quantity with your delivery location and we will come back with a price.
