Propyl Gallate Antioxidant Supplier in Malaysia
- Also known as
- N-Propyl Gallate
- Propyl 3,4,5-Trihydroxybenzoate
- E310
- INS 310
Propyl gallate is the phenolic antioxidant Malaysian buyers request for edible oil, fat blend and fried-product work. Also written n-propyl gallate, propyl 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoate or E310 (CAS 121-79-9, C10H12O5), it is the propyl ester of gallic acid and is supplied as a white to creamy-white crystalline powder.
Food grade carries the bulk of commercial demand and is bought against a food-additive specification. Technical grade covers oxidation control outside food, in polymer, adhesive, wax and industrial oil systems, while high-purity material serves laboratory and reference work.
Local demand follows the oils and fats trade: refined palm oil and fractions, frying fats, instant noodles, snacks and bakery fats, plus feed fats, cosmetic oil phases and resin systems. It is usually formulated with a second antioxidant or a chelating agent rather than used alone. Propyl gallate is a separate identity from gallic acid and from the butylated phenolic antioxidants, which are ordered by their own names.
Send the grade, application, target specification, quantity and delivery location with your enquiry. Availability, packing, documentation and delivery timing are confirmed with the quotation. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

Propyl Gallate grades and forms
We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.
| Grade | Form | Assay | Typical use | Packing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Food grade propyl gallate (E310) | white to creamy-white crystalline powder | — | Oxidation control in refined edible oils, frying fats, fat blends, fried snacks, instant noodles and bakery fats, where the buyer works to a food-additive specification identified as E310. | Confirmed with the quotation. |
| Technical grade propyl gallate | crystalline powder | — | Non-food oxidation control in polymer, adhesive, wax and lubricant systems, and in industrial oils where a phenolic antioxidant is written into the formulation. | Confirmed with the quotation. |
| High-purity propyl gallate | fine crystalline powder | — | Laboratory reagent and reference work, antioxidant screening and analytical preparation, where the enquiry names the purity standard the material has to be written against. | Confirmed with the quotation. |

Store sealed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight and away from strong oxidising agents. Control dust when weighing the powder and use gloves and eye protection. Follow the safety information issued with the quoted grade.
Common questions about propyl gallate
Is propyl gallate the same as gallic acid?
No. Propyl gallate is the propyl ester of gallic acid, so it is a separate product with its own solubility, melting range and specification. Request gallic acid by name if the parent acid is what the process needs.
Is E310 another name for propyl gallate?
Yes. E310 and INS 310 are the additive codes used when the material is selected for food use, and n-propyl gallate and propyl 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoate refer to the same substance. The grade and specification still have to be stated on the enquiry.
What is the difference between propyl gallate and BHA, BHT or TBHQ?
They are four separate antioxidants, each ordered by name and each with its own specification, solubility and handling. Propyl gallate is a gallic acid ester rather than a butylated phenol, and formulators pick between them on compatibility with the oil or resin, carry-through in heat and the standards the finished product is written to.
Is propyl gallate the same as octyl or dodecyl gallate?
No. Octyl gallate and dodecyl gallate are longer-chain esters of the same parent acid, with different fat solubility and different additive codes. Name the ester the specification calls for so the right product is quoted.
Which propyl gallate grade should I request?
Food grade carries most commercial demand and suits edible oils, frying fats and fat-containing foods under E310. Technical grade covers polymer, adhesive, wax and industrial oil work. High-purity material is requested for laboratory and reference use.
Is propyl gallate used on its own or with other antioxidants?
Both are normal practice. It is often formulated alongside another phenolic antioxidant or a chelating agent, because the combination addresses oxidation routes that one component alone does not. Use levels are set by your own formulation work and any applicable requirements, so state the level the recipe is written to.
What should a propyl gallate enquiry include?
Give the grade, application, target specification, quantity and delivery location. Add any assay, melting range, loss-on-drying or heavy-metal limits your quality system checks, plus the packing and documents you expect, so the quotation matches the full requirement.
