What is shellac resin?
Shellac is a natural resin refined from lac and supplied mainly as brittle flakes or powder. It dissolves in suitable formulation systems to form a hard, glossy film used in coatings, glazing and specialty binding. It is not the same product as a synthetic acrylic, epoxy or vinyl resin.
What is the difference between orange and bleached shellac?
Orange shellac retains an amber to orange colour that is useful in many wood and industrial finishes. Bleached shellac is much paler and is chosen when the coating should contribute less colour. The required wax condition and purity still need to be stated separately.
When should a buyer request dewaxed shellac?
