Is sodium polyacrylate the same as polyacrylamide?
No. Polyacrylamide is a separate polymer family with its own anionic and cationic flocculant grades, enquired separately, and it is dosed to agglomerate solids rather than to keep them apart. Sodium polyacrylate is the sodium salt of an acrylic acid homopolymer, used mainly for dispersion, deposit control and water absorption.
What is the difference between sodium polyacrylate and polyacrylic acid?
The salt is already neutralised, so it disperses in water without adding alkali, while the free acid is acidic and is usually neutralised in the formulation.
