Calcium Stearate Supplier in Malaysia
- Also known as
- Calcium Octadecanoate
- Calcium Distearate
- Calcium Salt of Stearic Acid
Calcium stearate supplier for PVC, plastics, rubber, paper and construction buyers in Malaysia. Also called calcium octadecanoate and the calcium salt of stearic acid, it is a white, fine, free-flowing metallic stearate powder that is insoluble in water.
Supply covers industrial grade powder, low-dust granulated or prilled material, food and pharmaceutical grades, and aqueous dispersions for paper and coating work. Grades differ on calcium content, free fatty acid, particle size and bulk density, so the specification decides the selection rather than the grade name.
In PVC compounding calcium stearate works as an internal lubricant, acid scavenger and co-stabiliser, and it serves as a processing and release aid in rubber and polyolefins. Elsewhere it is specified as a water repellent in gypsum and cement systems, a flatting and anti-settling additive in paints, a paper surface lubricant, and an anticaking or tablet lubricant in the food and pharmaceutical grades.
Send the required grade, physical form, target specification, quantity and delivery location with your enquiry. Availability, packing, documentation and delivery timing are confirmed with the quotation.

Calcium Stearate grades and forms
We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.
| Grade | Form | Assay | Typical use | Packing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Industrial grade calcium stearate powder | white fine free-flowing powder | — | The usual grade for PVC compounding, where calcium stearate works as an internal lubricant, acid scavenger and co-stabiliser beside the main stabiliser system. Also specified for polyolefin and rubber processing. | Confirm the required pack format with the quotation. |
| Low-dust granulated calcium stearate | granules or prills | — | Selected where dust control and automated dosing matter, because granular metallic stearates feed more consistently than a fine powder. State the bulk density and particle size the feeder needs. | Confirm the required pack format with the quotation. |
| Food grade calcium stearate | white fine powder | — | For food processing requirements that call for a food grade metallic stearate as an anticaking, flow or release aid. Name the standard the application must meet so the quotation can address it directly. | Confirm the required pack format with the quotation. |
| Pharmaceutical grade calcium stearate | white fine powder | — | Tablet lubricant, glidant and anticaking use in solid dose manufacture. State the pharmacopoeial standard and any particle size limits with the enquiry rather than relying on the grade name. | Confirm the required pack format with the quotation. |
| Calcium stearate aqueous dispersion | aqueous dispersion | — | A waterborne dispersion of the same calcium stearate, used in paper and board surface treatment, coatings and sizing where dry powder cannot be dosed. State the solids content required. | — |

Safety and handling
Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from heat and ignition sources. Control airborne dust when handling the powder and follow the safety information for the quoted grade.
Common questions about calcium stearate
What does calcium stearate do in a PVC compound?
It acts as an internal lubricant that improves melt flow and metal release, as an acid scavenger that neutralises hydrogen chloride released during processing, and as a co-stabiliser working with the main stabiliser package. The dose depends on the compound and the extrusion or moulding conditions.
Is calcium stearate the same as stearic acid?
No. Stearic acid is the free fatty acid and calcium stearate is its calcium soap, a water-insoluble metallic stearate powder with a different function in a formulation. They are not interchangeable, so order calcium stearate by name when the recipe calls for the metallic stearate.
How does calcium stearate differ from zinc or magnesium stearate?
The metal changes the behaviour. Calcium stearate is the usual PVC internal lubricant and acid scavenger, while zinc and magnesium stearates are separate products with their own lubrication, stabiliser and anticaking roles. Each should be ordered by name rather than treated as a substitute.
What grades and forms of calcium stearate are available?
Commercial supply covers industrial grade powder, low-dust granulated or prilled material, food and pharmaceutical grades, and aqueous dispersions for paper and coatings. State the intended use with any calcium content, free fatty acid, moisture or particle size limits that apply.
Should I order calcium stearate powder or low-dust granules?
Powder is the common choice for batch compounding, while granules or prills suit gravimetric feeders and plants that need to keep airborne dust down. Send the feeder type and the bulk density range that works in your line and the quotation can cover both options.
Is calcium stearate soluble in water?
No. It is insoluble in water and hydrophobic, which is why it also works as a water repellent in gypsum and cement systems. Where a waterborne route is needed, a calcium stearate dispersion is used instead of the dry powder.
What details are needed for a calcium stearate quotation?
Provide the grade, physical form, target specification, quantity and delivery location, plus the process it will run in. Note any required product documents in the enquiry so packing and documentation can be confirmed with the quoted grade.
