Glyoxal Supplier in Malaysia (40% Solution)

  • Also known as
  • Ethanedial
  • Oxaldehyde
  • C2H2O2

Glyoxal supplier in Malaysia for textile finishing, paper, resin and oilfield buyers. Systematically ethanedial and also written oxaldehyde (CAS 107-22-2), it is the smallest dialdehyde and reaches the market as a clear colourless to pale yellow water solution.

Strength is the first commercial question. Around 40 per cent is the standard traded concentration and the figure most recipes are written against, with 30 per cent and other strengths available depending on the grade. Stabilised textile finishing material and paper or resin process grades are selected where colour and storage behaviour matter alongside assay.

Textile mills use it to crosslink cellulose in easy-care and crease-resist finishing, paper mills for wet strength, coating and starch insolubilising, and oilfield formulators as a crosslinker. It is neither glutaraldehyde nor a formaldehyde solution nor glyoxylic acid, each of which is a separate product ordered by its own name.

Tell us the strength, the application, the volume and where it has to land. The rest of the commercial detail belongs in the quotation. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

Glyoxal grades and forms

We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.

How to buy glyoxal from ChemTrade

Ordering

Send the solution strength you work to, the application, any stabilisation or colour requirement, the quantity and the delivery point. If your specification is written against 40 per cent material, say so, since dosing and freight both change with strength.

Delivery

Drum, IBC or bulk arrangements, product documents and the schedule to your stated location are all written into the offer rather than fixed here. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

Pricing

Glyoxal is quoted on enquiry with a stated validity period. Solution strength, grade, drum or bulk pack format, volume and destination each move the figure, so the offer follows your stated requirement rather than a list price.

Reason for solution supplythe anhydrous material polymerises readily, so commercial trade is in stabilised water solution rather than neat glyoxal

Glyoxal applications

Safety and handling

Keep containers closed in a cool, well-ventilated store away from strong bases, oxidising agents and amines, and out of direct sunlight. Solutions are acidic and can irritate skin, eyes and airways, so use suitable protective equipment and avoid mist during transfer. Work to the safety information issued for the grade quoted.

Common questions about glyoxal

What does glyoxal 40 mean, and is that the strength I should order?

It refers to the roughly 40 per cent aqueous solution, which is the standard traded form and the strength most recipes are written against. Weaker solutions such as 30 per cent exist and suit some dosing setups. State the strength your process expects so the quotation matches it.

Is glyoxal the same as glutaraldehyde?

No. Both are dialdehydes and buyers do confuse them, but glutaraldehyde is a five-carbon molecule with its own specifications, dosing and handling, and it is a different product ordered by name. Glyoxal is the two-carbon dialdehyde and the shortest member of the family.

Can glyoxal replace a formaldehyde solution in textile finishing?

Mills often specify it where a dialdehyde route is preferred to a formaldehyde-based resin, but formaldehyde solution is a different product and not interchangeable without a formulation review. Describe the finish, the substrate and the bath conditions so the right grade is quoted.

Is glyoxal the same thing as glyoxylic acid?

No. Glyoxylic acid is the oxidation product and behaves as a carboxylic acid rather than a dialdehyde, so it belongs to a separate product and should be ordered by name. Check which one the formulation sheet actually calls for before raising the enquiry.

Why is glyoxal always supplied as a solution?

The anhydrous material polymerises readily, so commercial supply is a stabilised water solution instead. That is why strength, stabilisation and storage conditions are the practical questions on this product rather than a solid or liquid form choice.

What details are needed for a glyoxal price enquiry?

Provide the solution strength, the application, the quantity per shipment and any repeat volume, plus the delivery location. Mention preferred pack format and the documentation you need so the quotation covers the whole requirement.
