Ion Exchange Resin Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • Ion-Exchange Resin
  • IX Resin

Ion exchange resin supplier for water treatment contractors, plant engineers and process buyers in Malaysia. The material is a crosslinked bead resin carrying fixed ionic groups, which makes it a family of grades rather than one substance with a single CAS number or formula. Water softener resin is the largest single duty, and demineralisation, dealkalisation and polishing beds follow the same selection logic.

Selection starts with the resin type: strong acid cation, weak acid cation, strong base anion, weak base anion or a mixed bed blend. Ionic form as supplied, total capacity, gel or macroporous structure, bead size and crosslinking then narrow the choice. Give the bed volume as well, because resin is ordered in litres or cubic feet rather than by weight.

Exchange on the bead is a different mechanism from zeolite softening, from adsorption onto activated carbon and from the soluble chemicals dosed into a clarifier. Beads are supplied moist and should not be allowed to dry out or freeze before the bed is charged. Regeneration uses brine, acid or caustic depending on the type chosen.

Send the resin type, ionic form, duty, bed volume and delivery location with your enquiry. Availability, packing and documentation follow in the quotation.

How to buy ion exchange resin from ChemTrade

Ordering

Send the resin type (strong or weak acid cation, strong or weak base anion, or mixed bed), the ionic form, the bed volume in litres or cubic feet, the duty or water analysis, and the delivery location. Note any bead size or uniformity requirement the vessel design sets.

Delivery

Route and timing are confirmed with the quotation once the resin volume and destination are known.

Pricing

Ion exchange resin is quoted on enquiry with a stated validity period. Resin is bought by volume rather than by weight, so quote litres or cubic feet to get a comparable price.

Ion Exchange Resin applications

Safety and handling

Keep the resin sealed and moist, out of direct sunlight, protected from freezing and away from strong oxidising agents. Beads that have dried out or frozen may fracture and lose capacity, so store them in the pack until the bed is charged.

Common questions about ion exchange resin

What is the difference between cation and anion resin?

Cation resin exchanges positively charged ions such as calcium, magnesium and sodium, while anion resin exchanges negatively charged ions such as chloride, sulphate, bicarbonate and silica. A demineralisation train uses both in sequence, so state which stage the requirement covers.

Which resin does a water softener use?

Softeners run strong acid cation resin in the sodium form, which swaps hardness ions for sodium and is regenerated with a brine solution made from salt. Bed volume and bead size follow the vessel, so send the litres or cubic feet the unit holds.

Is ion exchange resin the same as zeolite?

No. Zeolite is a mineral or synthetic aluminosilicate and works as its own softening or adsorption medium, while ion exchange resin is a crosslinked bead resin with fixed functional groups. They are separate products with different capacity, regeneration and handling, so order the one the design specifies.

Is ion exchange resin the same as activated carbon?

No. Activated carbon removes chlorine, organics and taste by adsorption onto pore surfaces, whereas resin exchanges dissolved ions. Many plants carry both, with carbon set ahead of the resin bed to protect it, but each is quoted as its own product.

Is ion exchange resin a flocculant or a treatment chemical dosed into water?

No. Flocculants and coagulants are soluble chemicals dosed into the water and consumed, while resin is an insoluble bead medium held in a vessel and regenerated or replaced. State whether the requirement is a media charge or a dosing chemical.

How much resin should I order, and in what units?

Resin is sold by volume, in litres or cubic feet, rather than by weight, because capacity relates to the volume of the bed. Give the vessel volume or the design flow and hardness, and mention whether the charge is a first fill or a replacement.

Can you match a branded resin type I already use?

Send the code you currently buy together with the duty. The requirement is matched on resin type, ionic form, total capacity, structure and bead size rather than on a brand, and the comparable grade offered is stated in the quotation.

What details are needed for an ion exchange resin quotation?

Provide the resin type and ionic form, bed volume, application, water analysis or target quality, any bead size requirement, and the delivery location. Availability, packing and documentation are confirmed with the quotation, and supply is subject to applicable requirements.
