Isopropyl Acetate (IPAc) Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • IPAc
  • Isopropyl Ethanoate
  • Acetic Acid Isopropyl Ester

Isopropyl acetate supplier in Malaysia, listed as IPAc on most coating and ink formulations. The material is the isopropyl ester of acetic acid (CAS 108-21-4, C5H10O2), a clear colourless liquid with a mild fruity odour that boils around 89 degrees Celsius.

Read the identity carefully before ordering. Isopropyl acetate is an ester and is a different product from isopropyl alcohol, which is where most confusion in this part of the catalogue starts. It is also not the n-propyl isomer, and it is not ethyl acetate.

Only the purity band varies commercially: a 99% minimum industrial grade for general solvent duty, and tighter material at 99.5% and above for electronics cleaning or pharmaceutical intermediate work. Water content and free acidity are the numbers buyers actually check.

Typical duty covers flexographic and gravure inks, nitrocellulose and acrylic lacquers, wood finishes, adhesives and sealants, press and parts cleaning, nail-care formulation and extraction steps in fine-chemical manufacture. Send the grade, specification limits, quantity and delivery location; the quotation covers availability, packing, documentation and timing.

How to buy isopropyl acetate from ChemTrade

Ordering

State the grade needed, the minimum assay plus any water or acidity ceiling from your specification, what the solvent is doing in the process, the volume per drop and where it goes.

Delivery

Route, pack format, documentation and scheduling are all written into the quotation once the destination and volume are known.

Pricing

Isopropyl acetate carries no published price. A quotation is issued on enquiry with its own validity period, since grade, specification, volume and destination each change the figure.

Isopropyl Acetate applications

Safety and handling

Hold containers closed and earthed in a cool, shaded, well-ventilated store, clear of ignition sources, heat and oxidising agents. It is a volatile flammable ester, so vapour control and static precautions apply during transfer, and the safety information for the grade quoted should be read before handling. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

Common questions about isopropyl acetate

Is isopropyl acetate the same as isopropyl alcohol?

No. Isopropyl acetate is an ester and isopropyl alcohol is the alcohol it is built from, so solvency, evaporation and odour all differ and one cannot be swapped for the other in a recipe. Where the alcohol is what the process wants, ask for isopropyl alcohol by name on its own enquiry.

Is isopropyl acetate the same as n-propyl acetate?

No. They are propyl acetate isomers with separate CAS numbers and different evaporation behaviour, and a formulation approved on one is not automatically approved on the other. This page covers the isopropyl ester, CAS 108-21-4; request n-propyl acetate by name if that is what the process calls for.

What does IPAc mean on a coating or ink specification?

IPAc is the shorthand coaters, printers and ink formulators use for isopropyl acetate, and isopropyl ethanoate and acetic acid isopropyl ester name the same material. Quote whichever term your specification uses and the enquiry will be read correctly.

How does isopropyl acetate compare with ethyl acetate and n-butyl acetate?

It sits between them on evaporation rate, boiling near 89 degrees Celsius against roughly 77 for ethyl acetate and well over 120 for n-butyl acetate. Formulators reach for it when the lightest ester flashes off before the film levels but a slow ester would hold the coating open too long.

Which isopropyl acetate grade should be requested?

A 99% minimum industrial grade covers most ink, lacquer, adhesive and cleaning duty. Higher-purity material is worth specifying for electronics cleaning, and pharmaceutical or fine-chemical routes are usually run against the plant's own specification and documentation. Name the application and the choice follows from it.

Which specification values matter most for isopropyl acetate?

Water content and free acidity are the two figures buyers check after assay, because both affect resin systems and downstream reaction steps. Send the ceilings your purchase specification sets rather than a grade label on its own.

How is an isopropyl acetate quotation requested in Malaysia?

List the grade with its specification ceilings, the duty the solvent performs, how much is taken per delivery, and the receiving location in Malaysia. Note any documentation required and whatever the site can accept on pack format, and one quotation can cover it.
