Safety and handling
Store in closed containers in a cool, well-ventilated place, away from ignition sources and strong oxidisers. Heavier cuts thicken as the temperature drops, so keep drums and tanks above the pour point of the grade if the oil has to be pumped. What is paraffinic oil used for?

What is the difference between paraffinic and naphthenic process oil?
They are refined from different crude fractions and behave differently. Paraffinic oil is dominated by saturated straight-chain and branched hydrocarbons, giving a higher viscosity index and lower solvency, while naphthenic oil is richer in ring structures with stronger solvency and better low-temperature flow. Rubber recipes usually name one or the other, so send the wording your compound sheet uses.
Is paraffinic oil the same as white oil?
No. White oil is the highly refined, colourless and odourless end of the same distillate family, sold for personal care, pharmaceutical and other tightly specified formulation work. Paraffinic process oil is the technical grade, and the two are quoted from different specifications, so order whichever one your formulation actually calls for.
How does paraffinic oil relate to lubricant base stock and paraffin wax?
Paraffinic process oil is bought for compounding and formulating duty. Lubricant base stock is a separate purchase, chosen by solvent neutral grade and API group for blending finished lubricants, and it is quoted from its own specification. Paraffin wax is solid at room temperature and belongs to a third product family, so state which of the three your recipe calls for.
Which viscosity grade of paraffinic oil should I request?
Work back from the recipe or the finished fluid. Light cuts suit textile finishes, polymer carriers and easy-mixing compounds, medium cuts cover most glove and general rubber work, and heavy cuts go into denser stocks, tyre compounds and adhesive plasticising. If the compound sheet gives a viscosity at a stated temperature, send that figure.
Can paraffinic oil be used as a rubber process oil?
Yes, for compounds written around a paraffinic extender. Many light coloured and non-black formulations, including glove and general rubber goods, are built on paraffinic cuts. Compounds that depend on high solvency or deliberate darkening are written for naphthenic or aromatic oils instead, so confirm which family the recipe specifies before substituting.
Do you supply low aromatic or hydrotreated paraffinic oil?
