Pitch Supplier in Malaysia

Pitch supplier for carbon, graphite, refractory and specialty manufacturing buyers in Malaysia. This page covers petroleum-derived pitch identified by CAS 61789-60-4, a black to dark-brown solid selected by its thermal softening, melt-flow and carbonisation behaviour.

Binder-grade petroleum pitch is used in selected carbonaceous mixes where the material must support forming and controlled heat treatment. Impregnation grade is selected for its ability to melt and penetrate compatible porous carbon or graphite before a defined thermal cycle.

The bare word pitch is not a universal specification. Petroleum pitch remains distinct from asphalt or bitumen, natural gilsonite, coal-tar pitch, plant-derived resin pitch and finished binder or coating formulations.

Send the source family, binder or impregnation grade, softening and melt-flow requirements, carbonisation controls, physical form, quantity and delivery location with your enquiry. Availability, packing, documentation, route, timing and price are confirmed with the quotation.

Pitch applications

Common questions about pitch

Which type of pitch does this page cover?

This page covers petroleum-derived pitch identified by CAS 61789-60-4. It does not combine coal-tar pitch, natural gilsonite, asphalt, plant-derived resin pitch or a finished pitch formulation under one specification.

Is petroleum pitch the same as asphalt or bitumen?

No. They may all be dark, thermally softening materials, but their source, composition range and performance specifications differ. State petroleum pitch explicitly when that is the material required by the carbon or manufacturing process.

Is petroleum pitch interchangeable with coal-tar pitch?

Not automatically. Petroleum-derived and coal-tar-derived pitches can have different softening, aromatic, impurity, coking and processing profiles. Substitution requires the receiving process to approve a matching specification rather than relying on the word pitch alone.

What is the difference between binder and impregnation pitch?

Binder grade is selected to hold carbonaceous aggregate together during forming and heat treatment. Impregnation grade is selected for melt viscosity and penetration into porous carbon or graphite, so each grade needs a process-specific property profile.

Which pitch specifications should a buyer provide?

State the pitch source family, softening range, viscosity or flow test, coking value or carbon yield, volatile matter, ash and required physical form. Include the test basis and processing temperature where those are part of the receiving specification.

What information is needed for a pitch quotation?

Send the petroleum pitch grade, complete property specification, intended carbon or refractory application, physical form, quantity and delivery location. Available packing, documentation, route and timing are confirmed with the quotation.
