Quicklime supplier for steel, water treatment, construction, pulp and paper and process plants across Malaysia. Chemically calcium oxide (CaO) and known locally as kapur tohor, quicklime is limestone calcined to drive off carbon dioxide, leaving a strong, water-reactive alkali bought by the tonne.
Commercial forms include lumps, pebbles and ground powder. High-calcium grades are commonly specified at a minimum available CaO of about 90 per cent, with sizing and reactivity stated when the plant works to a defined feed class. Packing and documentation are confirmed with the quotation.
Buyers use quicklime as a steelmaking flux, as an on-site slaking feed for pH correction and metal precipitation, for soil stabilisation, kraft recausticising and process or flue-gas neutralisation. It is not hydrated lime or calcium carbonate, and the three products are not interchangeable on dose.

Store dry in closed bags or sealed bulk containers, clear of the floor and away from water, acids and moist air. Quicklime absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide and loses available CaO if left open. Contact with water releases enough heat to boil free water and can ignite nearby combustibles. The dust causes serious eye damage and burns damp skin, so use sealed goggles, gloves and dust protection, and never slake it in a closed vessel.
Common questions about quicklime
Is quicklime the same as calcium oxide?
Yes. Quicklime is the industrial trade name for calcium oxide (CaO), also called burnt lime, unslaked lime, pebble lime or kapur tohor. It is not the same product as hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide) or calcium carbonate.
Is quicklime the same as hydrated lime or calcium hydroxide?
No. Quicklime is calcium oxide (CaO). Hydrated lime is calcium hydroxide, Ca(OH)2, made by slaking quicklime with water. They are dosed differently and must not be substituted without recalculating the requirement. Use the hydrated-lime page when the specification calls for the already-slaked product.
Which form should I request, lumps, pebbles or powder?
Lump and pebble quicklime suit bulk flux, mineral-processing and on-site slaking where coarser feed is preferred. Ground powder is chosen for faster slaking, fine dosing and applications that need a powder feed. State the preferred size range with the enquiry if your plant already works to one.
What is high-calcium quicklime?
High-calcium quicklime is the low-magnesia commercial grade, typically sold against a minimum available CaO such as 90 per cent. Dolomitic or magnesium-bearing lime is a different composition and should be requested only when that chemistry is intentional. Send the assay or residual limits your process requires.
Can quicklime be used for water treatment and soil stabilisation?
Yes. Water-treatment plants commonly slake quicklime on site to milk of lime for pH correction and related duties. Civil and ground-improvement work uses it to dry and stabilise wet subgrades. Confirm the form, available CaO and quantity so the quoted grade matches the method of use.
