Coal Tar Oil Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • Coal Tar Distillate
  • Tar Oil

Coal tar oil supplier for timber treating, coating, binder and carbon-feedstock buyers in Malaysia. The material is a distillate fraction of coal tar, the oily by-product recovered when coal is carbonised in a coke oven. It is traded as a dark aromatic liquid and specified by its cut rather than by a single chemical identity.

Coal tar is separated into fractions on the still, and each fraction is bought for a different duty. Light oil and carbolic oil sit at the volatile, phenol-rich end, naphthalene oil and wash oil in the middle, and anthracene oil and creosote oil at the heavy end. State the fraction, or the properties the plant runs to, so the enquiry can be matched.

Because these are variable mixtures, no CAS number, formula or fixed assay describes them. Buyers work instead from distillation range, specific gravity, water content and phenolic or naphthalene content. Being coal-derived also separates this material from the petroleum solvents and process oils that can look similar on a datasheet.

Send the required fraction, target properties, quantity and delivery location with your enquiry. Pack format, documentation and timing are settled in the offer. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

Coal Tar Oil grades and forms

We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.

GradeFormAssayTypical usePacking
Light oilmobile pale to amber liquidVolatile front end of the tar, taken as feed for aromatic recovery and further distillation rather than used as a finished treating or binder oil.Drum, IBC or bulk tank format is confirmed with the quotation.
Carbolic oildark oily liquidBought where the phenolic content of the tar acids is the point of the purchase, including tar-acid recovery and blending into heavier oils. Refined phenol and cresylic acid are separate products.Drum, IBC or bulk tank format is confirmed with the quotation.
Naphthalene oildark oily liquid that thickens as it coolsMiddle cut carrying the highest naphthalene content, taken for onward refining or for blending into carbon and binder streams. Refined naphthalene itself is enquired as its own product.Drum or bulk tank handling is confirmed with the quotation.
Wash oildark oily liquidAbsorbing medium in benzol scrubbing on coke-oven gas and comparable gas-washing service, where the oil circulates and is stripped repeatedly.Drum, IBC or bulk tank format is confirmed with the quotation.
Anthracene oilheavy dark viscous liquidHeaviest distillate cut, used as carbon-product and carbon black feedstock and as an impregnation or blending oil in carbon and refractory work.Drum or bulk tank handling is confirmed with the quotation.
Creosote oildark oily liquidTimber treating and industrial preservation duties, and blending into heavy treating oils. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.Drum, IBC or bulk tank format is confirmed with the quotation.

How to buy coal tar oil from ChemTrade

Ordering

Send the fraction you need, any distillation range, specific gravity, water or naphthalene target, the quantity and the delivery location. Note the end use, since a treating oil, a binder feed and a carbon feedstock are judged on different properties.

Delivery

Pack or bulk format, loading arrangement, route and timing are set out in the offer for the quoted fraction.

Pricing

Coal tar oil is quoted on enquiry with a stated validity period, because the fraction, quantity, packing and delivery point all move the number.

ParameterValueMethod
Appearancedark brown to black oily liquid, paler on the lighter fractions
Sourcedistillate fraction of coal tar recovered from coal carbonisation
Chemical identitynot a single substance, so a CAS number or molecular formula is not meaningful for the mixture
Compositioncomplex variable mixture of aromatic hydrocarbons with phenolic and heterocyclic compounds, in proportions set by the fraction
Distillation rangefraction dependent, so state the cut the process runs to
Aromatic contenthigh and characteristic of the fraction, confirmed on the offered oil
Specific gravitytypical for the fraction and heavier at the anthracene and creosote end than at the light end
Flash pointgrade dependent and rising through the heavier fractions

Coal Tar Oil applications

Safety and handling

Store in closed containers under cover, away from ignition sources and out of direct sun. Control vapour during transfer and sampling, keep the area ventilated and avoid skin and eye contact. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

Common questions about coal tar oil

What is coal tar oil?

It is a distillate fraction of coal tar, the oily liquid recovered when coal is carbonised in a coke oven. The trade names the fractions by their boiling position, from light oil through naphthalene and wash oil to anthracene and creosote oil.

Is coal tar oil the same as coal tar pitch?

No. Pitch is the residue left behind once the oils have been distilled off, so it is handled as a solid or semi-solid product rather than an oil. Order coal tar pitch by name when that is the requirement.

Is coal tar oil the same as creosote oil?

Not exactly. Creosote oil is one of the heavy distillate fractions rather than a name for the whole family, so a buyer asking for creosote oil is asking for a specific cut. A finished, formulated timber-preservative product is something else again, and this page does not cover one.

Is coal tar oil the same as a petroleum solvent or process oil?

No. Coal tar oil comes from coal carbonisation and carries phenolic and heterocyclic compounds alongside its aromatics, while petroleum solvents and process oils are refinery streams with different composition and handling. Enquire for those on their own pages when that is the real requirement.

Which coal tar oil fraction should I request?

Match the fraction to the duty. Light and carbolic oils go for onward recovery, naphthalene and wash oils for refining and gas-washing service, and anthracene and creosote oils for treating, binder and carbon feedstock work. Send the properties your plant already runs to where a specification exists.

Is this page for industrial coal tar oil or consumer products?

It covers coal tar oil as an industrial distillate for treating, binder, coating and carbon feedstock work. Consumer and personal-care preparations are outside its scope, so state the industrial application and quantity with your enquiry.

What details are needed for a coal tar oil price enquiry?

Give the fraction, any target distillation range, specific gravity or water content, the quantity, the delivery location and the intended use. Mention preferred packing or bulk handling so the quotation covers the whole requirement.
