Linseed Oil Supplier in Malaysia
- Also known as
- Flaxseed Oil
- Flax Oil
Linseed oil supplier for paint, coating, joinery, resin and oleochemical buyers in Malaysia. Pressed from flax seed and also traded as flaxseed oil, it is a drying oil: it oxidises and polymerises in air, which is why it binds a film instead of staying fluid.
Raw, boiled, refined and industrial grades are all the same identity and are quoted from this page. Stand oil and blown oil sit alongside them where higher viscosity is wanted. Boiled material is the fastest-curing option because it is heat-treated and normally carries driers.
Paint and varnish makers use it as a binder, and alkyd resin, linoleum and printing-ink plants take it as feedstock. Joinery, leather, foundry core-binder and concrete-sealing work draw on the raw and industrial grades, while food-quality flaxseed oil serves a separate feed and supplement market.
An enquiry needs the grade, the volume, what the oil has to do and where it is going. Pack format, documentation and timing all follow in the quotation. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

Linseed Oil grades and forms
We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.
| Grade | Form | Assay | Typical use | Packing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Raw linseed oil | untreated yellow liquid oil | — | The unmodified pressed oil, chosen where slow natural penetration is wanted rather than a fast surface cure. It goes into timber and leather treatment, putty and traditional oil finishes. | Usually drums or pails, with the pack confirmed at quotation stage. |
| Boiled linseed oil | heat-treated liquid oil | — | Heat-treated material, usually carrying metallic driers so it sets far faster than raw oil. This is the grade most decorative, joinery and maintenance buyers ask for by name. | Usually drums or pails, with the pack confirmed at quotation stage. |
| Refined or alkali-refined linseed oil | clarified liquid oil, paler than raw | — | Cleaned and lightened oil for artists' colours, printing inks and light coloured coatings where the yellow cast and residual break of raw oil would show in the film. | Drums or an IBC, again confirmed at quotation stage. |
| Industrial grade linseed oil | bulk liquid drying oil | — | Volume feedstock for alkyd resin manufacture, linoleum, core binders and concrete sealers, where the buyer specifies a drying oil by property rather than by a decorative grade name. | Drums, IBCs or flexitank on larger volumes, confirmed at quotation stage. |
| Stand oil and blown linseed oil | thickened viscous liquid oil | — | Polymerised and air-blown variants bought where a higher viscosity and a heavier body are written into varnish, printing ink and specialist coating formulations. | Drums or pails, confirmed at quotation stage. |

Linseed Oil applications
Safety and handling
Store closed, cool and out of direct sunlight, and keep part-used containers sealed because this oil cures by reacting with air. Cloths, rags and absorbent waste soaked with linseed oil generate heat as they oxidise, so treat them as a fire risk and follow the safety data sheet for the grade supplied. Boiled grades contain driers and carry their own handling information.
Common questions about linseed oil
What is the difference between raw and boiled linseed oil?
Raw linseed oil is the untreated pressed oil and cures slowly, which suits deep penetration into timber and traditional putty work. Boiled linseed oil is heat-treated and usually contains metallic driers, so the same film sets in a fraction of the time. They are two grades of the same oil, so state which cure speed your job needs.
Is linseed oil the same as flaxseed oil?
Yes, they are the same pressed oil from flax seed. Flaxseed oil is the name normally used for food and supplement material, while linseed oil is the industrial and coatings name for it. The grade, refining and paperwork differ between those two markets, so say which one applies.
Why is linseed oil used as a paint binder rather than a lubricant?
Because it is a drying oil. Its high linolenic acid content oxidises and polymerises in air, so the film hardens into a solid binder instead of staying fluid. That is the same property that makes it unsuitable where a stable non-curing oil is wanted.
Which grade suits alkyd resin and printing ink manufacture?
Industrial and refined grades cover most resin and ink work, with stand oil or blown oil selected where higher viscosity and better flow are needed. Send the target viscosity, colour and acid value with the volume so the grade is matched to the process rather than guessed.
Do you supply linseed oil in drums rather than small tins?
This page is for drum, pail, IBC and bulk supply to manufacturers, applicators and formulators. Small retail tins for a single DIY job are a hardware purchase. Tell us the volume per order or per month so the quotation reflects how you buy.
What details are needed for a linseed oil quotation?
Give the grade, quantity, application and delivery location, plus any viscosity, colour or acid value limits your specification carries. Mention the pack format and documents you need so the offer covers the full requirement in one round.
