Maltitol (E965) Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • Hydrogenated Maltose
  • E965
  • INS 965
  • C12H24O11

Maltitol supplier for confectionery, bakery, pharmaceutical and oral-care manufacturers in Malaysia. Also called hydrogenated maltose and coded E965 (CAS 585-88-6, C12H24O11), it is a sugar alcohol made by hydrogenating maltose obtained from starch. Crystalline grades carry a sweetness close to sucrose, which is why buyers use it in bulk rather than as an intense sweetener.

Two forms are traded and they are bought for different jobs. Crystalline maltitol powder and coarser crystals go into hard candy, chocolate and compound coatings, chewing gum, dry mixes and tableting. Maltitol syrup, also traded as hydrogenated glucose syrup at roughly 75% dry substance, is dosed as a liquid into chewy confectionery, caramels, jams and bakery fillings.

Food and beverage users take it into sugar-free and reduced-sugar lines, biscuits and frozen desserts, while pharmaceutical formulators specify it in oral syrups, chewable tablets and lozenges. Oral-care and cosmetic makers use it for sweetness, mouthfeel and water binding. It is a separate product from sorbitol, xylitol, erythritol and maltodextrin, and from maltose itself.

Tell us the form, grade, assay or dry substance, required mesh, quantity and delivery point when you enquire. Availability, pack format, documentation and timing follow in the quotation. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

How to buy maltitol from ChemTrade

Ordering

Tell us whether the requirement is crystalline maltitol or maltitol syrup, then the grade, mesh or dry substance, intended application, target specification, quantity and delivery point. A named pharmacopoeial or food standard should be stated in the enquiry rather than assumed.

Delivery

Pack format, documentation, delivery route and timing are set out in the quotation for the location given, together with availability of the grade requested.

Pricing

Maltitol is quoted on enquiry with a stated validity period. The form, crystalline or syrup, together with grade, specification, quantity and delivery point, all move the offer.

Maltitol applications

Safety and handling

Keep crystalline grades sealed in a cool, dry place so the powder does not pick up moisture or cake, and keep syrup containers closed and away from heat to limit crystallisation at the neck. Control dust when handling powder and keep food-grade material away from contamination.

Common questions about maltitol

Is maltitol the same as hydrogenated maltose or E965?

Yes. Maltitol is the sugar alcohol obtained by hydrogenating maltose from starch, so hydrogenated maltose describes the same material, and E965 or INS 965 is the additive code used in food work. E965(i) refers to maltitol and E965(ii) to maltitol syrup.

Should I request maltitol powder or maltitol syrup?

Crystalline powder and coarser crystals suit hard candy, chocolate, gum, tableting and dry mixes. Maltitol syrup, also traded as hydrogenated glucose syrup at around 75% dry substance, suits chewy confectionery, fillings and liquid dosing. State the form in the enquiry because the two carry different specifications.

Is maltitol the same as sorbitol, xylitol or erythritol?

No. All four are sugar alcohols, but each is a separate product with its own identity, sweetness, solubility, handling and price, and this catalogue quotes them on separate pages. Order the one your formulation specifies by name rather than treating the polyols as interchangeable.

Is maltitol the same as maltodextrin?

No, and this is a common filing error. Maltodextrin is a partial starch hydrolysate, not a hydrogenated sugar alcohol, and it behaves differently in sweetness, browning and moisture. Ask for maltodextrin by name if that is what the recipe calls for.

How does maltitol differ from maltose and isomalt?

Maltose is the unhydrogenated disaccharide that maltitol is made from, so the two are different materials with different stability. Isomalt is another polyol produced by a different route with its own melting and processing behaviour. Each is a separate product and should be ordered by name.

What is the difference between food grade and pharmaceutical grade maltitol?

Both cover the same product, but a pharmaceutical or compendial grade is quoted against a named standard with tighter identity, assay and microbiological criteria, and usually a fuller document set. Say which standard applies so the quotation reflects it.

What packing and documents can be requested with maltitol?

Pack formats differ between crystalline material and syrup, and available document sets vary with the grade and source. Include any preferred net weight, specification sheet, safety data or certificate requirement in the enquiry; the applicable packing and documentation are confirmed with the quotation.

What affects the quoted maltitol price?

The offer depends on form, grade, assay or dry substance, mesh where it is specified, quantity, packing requirement, source and delivery point. Prices are issued on enquiry with a stated validity period rather than published on the page.
