Polyamide resin supplier for printing ink, adhesive and coating formulators in Malaysia. The family is made by condensing dimer or polymerised fatty acids with polyamines, so it is also traded as dimer acid polyamide or fatty polyamide resin. Resin type, not pack size, is the first thing to settle on an enquiry.
Three types cover most requirements. Co-solvent and alcohol soluble grades are the ink binders used in solvent flexo and gravure printing on treated film and foil. Reactive polyamide grades cure epoxy systems, and non-reactive thermoplastic grades go into hot melt and heat seal adhesives.
Grades separate on softening point, amine value, acid value, viscosity and solubility rather than on appearance, and supply is either solid chips, flakes, pellets and blocks or a pre-dissolved solution. A specification written around one type will not transfer to another, so quote the figures the formulation works to.

Safety and handling
Keep solid grades sealed and dry in a cool place, and keep liquid grades and solutions in closed drums or pails away from heat, ignition sources and oxidising agents. Solutions carry the solvent they are supplied in, so ventilate the decanting area and avoid skin and eye contact. Follow the safety information issued for the grade quoted.

What is polyamide resin used for?
Its three main uses are as a binder in solvent flexographic and gravure printing inks, as a reactive hardener for epoxy coatings and adhesives, and as a base resin for hot melt and heat seal adhesives. Printing ink work is the largest of the three.
Is polyamide resin the same as nylon?
No. Nylon is an engineering thermoplastic bought by grade for moulding and extrusion, while this is a lower molecular weight resin made from dimer acid and polyamines for inks, adhesives and epoxy curing. Order nylon moulding material by name and by its own grade designation, since it is a different product.
Is polyamide resin the same as epoxy resin?
No, they sit on opposite sides of the same reaction. Reactive polyamide grades are the hardener that cures an epoxy resin, so the two are bought as separate components and mixed at the stated ratio. Say which component the enquiry is for so the right one is quoted.
Which polyamide resin type should I request?
Work back from the formulation. Ink and overprint varnish makers need a co-solvent or alcohol soluble grade, epoxy formulators need a reactive curing agent selected on amine value, and hot melt or heat seal work needs a non-reactive thermoplastic grade selected on softening point.
