POLYLACTIC ACID Supplier in Malaysia
- Also known as
- PLA
- Polylactide
- Poly(lactic Acid)
POLYLACTIC ACID supplier for plastics converters, packaging manufacturers, fibre producers and compounders in Malaysia. Also known as PLA or polylactide, this thermoplastic polyester is bought as pellets or powder selected for a specific conversion process and finished-article requirement.
Injection-moulding grades serve rigid parts and packaging, while extrusion and thermoforming grades address sheet, film, profiles and filament. Fibre grades are formulated for melt spinning and nonwovens, and micronised powder is a separate physical form for selected texturising or abrasive applications.
Buyers should set melt flow, moisture, thermal behaviour, optical needs and mechanical performance against their equipment and article design. PLA should not be selected solely from a broad compostable or bio-based description because additives, geometry, processing and end-of-life conditions affect performance.
Send the required grade, form, processing route, target specification, quantity and delivery location with your enquiry. Availability, packing, documentation and delivery timing are confirmed with the quotation.

POLYLACTIC ACID grades and forms
We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.
| Grade | Form | Assay | Typical use | Packing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Injection-moulding PLA resin | natural translucent to off-white pellets | — | Moulded packaging, housings, disposable articles and other rigid components where flow behaviour, impact requirements and finished-part geometry are matched to an injection-moulding grade. | The required moisture-protective pack format is confirmed with the quotation. |
| Extrusion and thermoforming PLA resin | polymer pellets for sheet, film and profile extrusion | — | Extruded sheet, thermoformed packaging, film, profiles and filament manufacture where melt strength, clarity and processing window are selected for the customer's line and finished article. | The required moisture-protective pack format is confirmed with the quotation. |
| Fibre and nonwoven PLA resin | melt-spinning pellets | — | Staple fibre, filament and nonwoven production that specifies PLA with melt flow and thermal characteristics suited to spinning, drawing and downstream conversion. | The required pack format is confirmed with the quotation. |
| Micronised PLA powder | controlled polymer powder | — | Texturising or abrasive particle in selected personal-care and industrial formulations that specifically name polylactic acid powder. Particle size and formulation compatibility must be stated in the enquiry. | The required powder pack format is confirmed with the quotation. |

POLYLACTIC ACID applications
Safety and handling
Keep pellets and powder sealed, cool and dry to limit moisture pickup and contamination before processing. Control dust when handling powder, protect the material from heat and direct sunlight, and follow the safety data sheet and processing guidance for the quoted grade.
Common questions about POLYLACTIC ACID
Are polylactic acid, polylactide and PLA the same polymer?
Yes. PLA is the standard abbreviation, and polylactic acid and polylactide are established names for the same thermoplastic polyester family. The name alone does not define processing behaviour, so buyers still need to state the grade, form and intended conversion route.
How do injection, extrusion and fibre grades of PLA differ?
They are designed around different melt-flow, thermal and mechanical needs. Injection grades must fill a mould, extrusion and thermoforming grades need suitable melt strength and draw behaviour, and fibre grades must spin and draw consistently. Send the equipment and finished-article requirements with the enquiry.
Is every PLA grade biodegradable or compostable in the same conditions?
No. Degradation performance depends on the resin grade, additives, article thickness, temperature, moisture and end-of-life conditions. A PLA name by itself is not evidence of a finished article's certification or disposal route. State the required claim and supporting document needs for the grade being considered.
Does PLA resin need drying before melt processing?
Moisture can reduce molecular weight and processing consistency when PLA is melted. Processors should follow the drying and handling instructions for the specific grade and avoid leaving opened packs exposed to humid air. Ask for the relevant processing guidance with the quotation.
Can PLA be quoted for food-packaging manufacture?
Enquiries can specify a PLA grade for trays, cups, lidding, films or other packaging articles. Include the conversion process, temperature and barrier needs, end use and required documentation so the proposed grade can be checked against the complete specification.
What information is needed for a polylactic acid price quotation?
Provide the grade, physical form, processing route, target performance, quantity and delivery location. Add packing and documentation needs so the quotation can define availability, timing, commercial terms and a validity period.
