Common questions about silica sand
Is silica sand the same as precipitated silica or silica gel?
No. Silica sand is graded granular quartz mineral. Precipitated silica and silica gel are synthetic amorphous products with different forms, uses and handling. Keep those identities on their own product pages and state silica sand size band when ordering mineral sand.
Which silica sand size band should I request?
Common trade bands run from fine about 0.1-0.5 mm through medium 0.5-1 mm and coarser 1-2 mm fractions. Filtration grades are often specified by effective size and uniformity coefficient, while foundry grades use grain fineness targets. State the size control your process requires.
What is washed silica sand used for?
