What is the difference between sodium formate and formic acid?
They are not the same product. Formic acid is the free acid supplied as a liquid, while sodium formate is its neutral sodium salt supplied as a solid or a solution. Tanneries often buy both for different steps, so order each by name.
Can sodium formate replace calcium formate in concrete work?
Not directly. Both are chloride-free formates, but calcium formate is the usual set accelerator for cement systems and sodium formate is more often used as an antifreeze admixture component or in other duties. Send the mix design and the effect you need.
