Common questions about ammonium persulfate
Is ammonium persulfate the same as ammonium persulphate?
Yes. The two spellings describe one salt, with datasheets usually writing persulfate and local trade writing persulphate. Ammonium peroxydisulfate and the abbreviation APS refer to the same material.
How does ammonium persulfate differ from the sodium and potassium salts?
All three release the same oxidising persulfate ion, but the cation changes solubility and residue. Ammonium persulfate is freely soluble and gives off ammonia as it decomposes, while potassium persulfate is much less soluble and suits dry blends. Quote the salt your formulation specifies.
Which grade is used for PCB copper etching?
