n-Propanol Supplier in Malaysia
- Also known as
- N-Propyl Alcohol
- Normal Propyl Alcohol
- Propan-1-Ol
- 1-Propanol
n-Propanol supplier in Malaysia for printing ink, coatings, cleaning, personal care and chemical manufacturing buyers. This page covers n-propanol, also sold as n-propyl alcohol, normal propyl alcohol, propan-1-ol and NPA, a clear water-miscible primary alcohol solvent. It is not isopropyl alcohol, which is the propan-2-ol isomer and has its own page.
Grade choice runs on assay, water content and whether the material must answer a named compendial or cosmetic requirement. Industrial and technical liquid n-propanol covers general solvent duty, while low-water and high-purity material suits moisture-sensitive systems and controlled processes.
Flexographic and gravure inks are the largest single use, alongside lacquers, coating solvent blends and cleaner or sanitiser formulation. n-Propanol is also an intermediate for propyl esters, propylamines and glycol ethers. Its slower evaporation than ethanol or isopropanol is usually why a formulator asks for it by name.
Send the required grade, target specification, application, quantity and delivery location with your enquiry. Availability, packing, documentation and delivery timing are confirmed with the quotation. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.

N-Propanol grades and forms
We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.
| Grade | Form | Assay | Typical use | Packing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Industrial-grade n-propanol | clear, colourless liquid | industrial solvent specification; state the required minimum | General solvent duty in printing inks, lacquers, thinners, surface cleaners and manufacturing formulations where an industrial specification is suitable. | Pack format confirmed with the quotation. |
| Technical-grade n-propanol | clear, colourless liquid | technical specification against the buyer's limits | Process and formulation work where the buyer sets limits for purity, water content, acidity or non-volatile residue. | Pack format confirmed with the quotation. |
| Low-water n-propanol | clear, colourless liquid | reduced water content; state the required limit | Esterification, resin and coating systems that are sensitive to water, and intermediate duty where moisture affects yield. | Pack format confirmed with the quotation. |
| High-purity n-propanol | clear, colourless liquid | high-purity specification | Electronics cleaning, controlled manufacturing and laboratory work that needs tighter impurity control than a general solvent grade. | Pack format confirmed with the quotation. |
| Compendial or cosmetic-grade n-propanol | clear, colourless liquid | against the stated compendial or cosmetic requirement | Personal care, sanitiser and pharmaceutical formulation where the material must answer a named standard. State the standard with the enquiry. | Pack format confirmed with the quotation. |

Safety and handling
Keep containers closed in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat, ignition sources and strong oxidisers. Handle as a flammable organic liquid and follow the safety information issued with the quoted grade. Supply is subject to applicable requirements.
Common questions about n-propanol
Is n-propanol the same as isopropyl alcohol?
No. n-Propanol is propan-1-ol, CAS 71-23-8, while isopropyl alcohol is propan-2-ol, CAS 67-63-0. They are structural isomers with different evaporation rates, solvency and odour, so they are not interchangeable without formulation approval. Specify which isomer the order requires.
Are n-propanol, n-propyl alcohol and NPA one product?
Yes. n-Propanol, n-propyl alcohol, normal propyl alcohol, propan-1-ol, 1-propanol and the trade abbreviation NPA all describe the same material. Bare propanol is ambiguous because it can also mean the isopropyl isomer, so keep the prefix on the enquiry.
Which n-propanol grade suits sanitiser or cosmetic formulation?
Formulators normally work from a named compendial or cosmetic requirement rather than a general industrial grade. Send the standard the finished product is formulated to, together with any assay and water content limits, so the quoted grade is matched to it.
What should an n-propanol enquiry include?
Give the required assay and any limits for water content, acidity, colour and non-volatile residue that matter to the process. Add the application, quantity and delivery location, and attach an existing purchasing specification if one is already in use.
Is n-propanol suitable for printing ink and coating work?
Yes. It is widely used in flexographic and gravure inks and in lacquer and coating solvent blends, where its slower evaporation than ethanol or isopropanol helps flow and printability. Suitability still depends on the resin system and the drying profile required.
How is an n-propanol price enquiry handled?
Provide the grade, specification, quantity, application and delivery location. Mention any preferred pack format, documentation needs and timing so the quotation covers the whole requirement rather than the material alone.
