Zinc Phosphate Anti-Corrosive Pigment Supplier in Malaysia

  • Also known as
  • Zinc Orthophosphate
  • Trizinc Phosphate
  • Zn3(PO4)2

Zinc phosphate supplier for paint, primer and protective coating formulators in Malaysia. This page covers the anti-corrosive pigment, also listed as zinc orthophosphate or trizinc phosphate, a white to off-white fine powder of very low water solubility. The pigment traded for coatings work is commonly the tetrahydrate.

Three grade families decide the order. Standard zinc orthophosphate covers conventional solvent-borne and water-borne primers, modified types such as zinc aluminium phosphate and zinc molybdenum phosphate are chosen where a formulation was built around faster inhibition, and micronised or surface-treated grades suit dispersion-limited processes.

Buyers specify it into metal primers, primer surfacers, powder and coil coatings, shop primers for structural steel, and marine or industrial maintenance systems formulated without lead or chromate pigments. The same head term also brings dental cement and phosphating-bath enquiries, which are separate requirements. It is also a different product from zinc oxide, zinc sulphate, zinc chloride, zinc dust and zinc phosphide.

Zinc Phosphate grades and forms

We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.

GradeFormAssayTypical usePacking
Standard zinc orthophosphate pigmentwhite to off-white fine powderThe general-purpose anti-corrosive pigment in solvent-borne and water-borne metal primers, where formulators want the established zinc orthophosphate chemistry at conventional loadings.Packing is confirmed with the quotation.
Modified zinc phosphate gradesfine powderPrimer systems specified around an engineered type rather than plain orthophosphate, such as zinc aluminium phosphate, zinc molybdenum phosphate and organically modified variants. Each is ordered by its own designation.Packing is confirmed with the quotation.
Micronised or surface-treated zinc phosphatemicronised powderDispersion-sensitive work such as water-borne primers, high-solids finishes and automated grinding lines, where finer particle size or a surface treatment shortens grind time and improves wet-out.Packing is confirmed with the quotation.

How to buy zinc phosphate from ChemTrade

Ordering

State whether you need the standard orthophosphate grade or a modified type, the binder system the pigment goes into, the particle size or oil absorption limits your specification sets, the quantity and the delivery location.

Delivery

Packing, documentation, route and timing are confirmed with the quotation for the location given.

Pricing

Zinc phosphate is quoted on enquiry with a stated validity period. A modified or micronised grade does not price like a standard orthophosphate pigment at the same tonnage, so the grade decides the offer as much as the volume does.

Zinc Phosphate applications

Safety and handling

Keep packs closed, dry and off the floor, and away from acids, which dissolve the pigment. Control dust during weighing and charging into the mill, and follow the safety information issued with the grade quoted.

Common questions about zinc phosphate

Is zinc phosphate the same as zinc oxide?

No. Zinc phosphate is the phosphate salt used as an anti-corrosive pigment in primers, while zinc oxide is the oxide used mainly as a rubber activator, ceramic flux and white pigment. They are separate products with separate specifications, so order zinc oxide by name if the oxide is what the formulation calls for.

Is zinc phosphate the same as zinc phosphide?

No. Zinc phosphide is a rodenticide active and an entirely different substance from the phosphate pigment described here. The two names are close enough that they are occasionally confused on an order, so request zinc phosphide by name if that is the requirement.

Can this material be used for dental cement or metal phosphating baths?

This page covers the coatings pigment. Dental zinc phosphate cement powder and the bath chemicals used to deposit zinc phosphate conversion coatings on steel are different requirements, with their own quality regimes, and should be enquired for separately with the intended use stated.

What is the difference between standard and modified zinc phosphate grades?

Standard material is plain zinc orthophosphate pigment. Modified grades are engineered variants such as zinc aluminium phosphate, zinc molybdenum phosphate and organically treated types, developed to inhibit sooner in the film than plain zinc orthophosphate does. Since designations differ between producers, state the type your formulation was built around.

Which zinc phosphate grade should I request?

Start from the binder system and the grinding equipment. Standard grade suits conventional solvent-borne and water-borne primers, modified grades are chosen where a formulation was developed around a faster-inhibiting type, and micronised or surface-treated grades help where dispersion or wet-out is the constraint.

What details are needed for a zinc phosphate price enquiry?

Give the grade or type, the binder system, any particle size, oil absorption or water-soluble limits your specification sets, the quantity and the delivery location. Add the documentation your quality system needs so the quotation covers the full requirement.
