Potassium Hydroxide (Caustic Potash) Supplier in Malaysia
- Also known as
- Caustic Potash
- KOH
- Potash Lye
- Kalium Hidroksida
Potassium hydroxide supplier for soap, biodiesel, cleaning, fertiliser salt and electronics buyers in Malaysia. Also called caustic potash, potash lye and KOH, this strong alkali is selected where the potassium ion matters to the finished product or process.
Commercial forms include white deliquescent flakes, pellets and clear aqueous solution. Solid industrial grades are commonly specified at about 90% KOH or higher, while liquid grades are ordered by concentration for dosing without dissolving solids on site.
Palm oleochemical plants use it to saponify oils into soft and liquid soaps that sodium hydroxide cannot produce. Biodiesel producers use it as a transesterification catalyst, and formulators specify it in alkaline cleaners, CIP systems, potassium salt manufacture and selected battery or etching work.
Send the required form, assay or concentration, application, quantity and delivery location with your enquiry. Availability, packing, documentation and delivery timing are confirmed with the quotation.

Potassium Hydroxide grades and forms
We supply several forms to suit different formulating and dosing setups. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us.
| Grade | Form | Assay | Typical use | Packing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Potassium hydroxide flakes | white deliquescent flakes | typically ≥ 90% KOH | Bulk industrial alkali for soft and liquid soap making, biodiesel catalysis and on-site preparation of process KOH solutions. | Confirm the required pack format with the quotation. |
| Potassium hydroxide pellets | white deliquescent pellets or prills | typically ≥ 90% KOH | Controlled dosing of solid KOH where flakes are less convenient, including laboratory, pilot and smaller process batches. | Confirm the required pack format with the quotation. |
| Aqueous potassium hydroxide solution | clear colourless liquid | concentration stated against the enquiry, commonly around 45 to 50% KOH | Ready-to-use liquid potash for alkaline cleaners, CIP systems and process dosing where dissolving solid KOH on site is not preferred. | Confirm the required pack format with the quotation. |

Potassium Hydroxide applications
Safety and handling
- Classification
- corrosive
Store in sealed containers in a cool, dry place away from acids, aluminium, zinc and moisture. Solid KOH is deliquescent and absorbs water and carbon dioxide from air. Dissolving it in water is strongly exothermic, so add solid to water slowly and never the reverse. Potassium hydroxide causes severe burns to skin and eyes; handle with a face shield, apron and chemical-resistant gloves.
Common questions about potassium hydroxide
Is potassium hydroxide the same as caustic soda or sodium hydroxide?
No. Potassium hydroxide is KOH, also sold as caustic potash. Caustic soda is sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Both are strong alkalis, but they are different products with different soap, catalyst and formulation behaviour. Order the alkali named on your specification.
What forms of potassium hydroxide are commonly supplied?
Commercial supply usually covers solid flakes, solid pellets and aqueous KOH solution. Flakes and pellets are commonly specified at about 90% KOH or higher. Liquid grades are quoted by concentration. State the form and strength you need in the enquiry.
What is caustic potash?
Caustic potash is the trade name for potassium hydroxide (KOH). Potash lye is another trade synonym for the same material. It is not caustic soda and not potassium carbonate.
Which applications use potassium hydroxide rather than sodium hydroxide?
Soft and liquid soaps, some biodiesel catalyst routes, selected alkaline cleaners and CIP systems, potassium salt manufacture and certain battery or electronics processes specify KOH. If your recipe or process sheet names potassium hydroxide or caustic potash, do not substitute caustic soda without reformulation.
What details are needed for a potassium hydroxide quotation?
Provide form, assay or solution concentration, application, quantity, delivery location and any documentation or packing preference. Availability, packing and commercial terms are confirmed with the quotation.
Can documentation be requested with the quotation?
Yes. List the product documents you need in the enquiry. Available documentation is confirmed for the quoted grade and form.
